With a population of over 18.8 millions, Istanbul is a Megalopolis and the main financial, shopping and cultural center of Turkey. Spread over 27 of the 39 districts of the province with the same name as one of the largest metropolises in the world. The economic capital of Turkey and the prefecture of the province with the same name. The European side is located in the historical region of Thrace and Asia in Anatolia. Officially called Istanbul on 28 March 1928. Along with Athens and Rome, Constantinople's, that is Istanbul's most venerable ranks among the capitals of Europe. He was placed on UNESCO's World Heritage list since 1985. Similar to the site in medieval Constantinople, now Istanbul is the largest agglomeration as Europe.



Istanbul is the only city in the world which lies on the shores of two continents, Europe and Asia. It is located in the northeastern Marmara Sea. It has a population of approximately 18.8 million inhabitants in metropolitan area (2010), or about 18% of Turkey's apparel, particular from over 73 million inhabitants. One can appreciate that people can actually be higher by at least one million floating population, like all big cities. Although, on 13 October 1923, the city lost in favor of the city as the capital Ankara, was Angora, remained the most important economic center of Turkey.

Night entertainment is rich in Istanbul. Night clubs offer entertainment during dinner from Turkish songs to belly dance oriental. In addition, there are modern discos (see those on the shore of the Bosporus), cabarets and jazz clubs in the Taksim-Harbiye district. In Sultanahmet district there are a number of restaurants in restored Byzantine and Ottoman buildings, offering a unique setting for an evening out.



Another attractive district in Istanbul Kumkapi with tavernas, bars and restaurants. People come together for years at Cicek Passage in Beyoglu district to enjoy together, "raki" and seafood specialties. Cicek Passage is also close Nevizade narrow street, the best place in Istanbul where you can enjoy specialties of Turkish and raki, the Turkish alcoholic beverage specific. On the shores of the Bosphorus, Ortaköy is the center of Istanbul's nightlife, with clubs, jazz bars and seafood restaurants and marine. Along the coast are restaurantede first class, overlooking the Bosphorus. Other districts are interesting in Istanbul Haydarpasa, Uskudar, Eyup, Galata, Perapalas, Eminönü.

Being the capital of two empires totally different than 2000 years, there are many historical sites in Istanbul. Diverse history is reflected in the old churches, mosques, palaces, museums and bazaars. Prosperous commercial areas of the Taksim and Nisantasi (the largest malls in the world) zumzaie life and entertainment. Brilliant beauty of the Bosphorus, Princess Islands and parks bring a little peace and quiet in the bustling metropolis of Istanbul.
